Vanderbilt University: The Non-Violence Struggle

This playlist contains video from the Rev. James Lawson’s Fall 2007 course, “The Non-Violence Struggle.” The entire course will be available as the semester proceeds. Lawson, hailed by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as “the leading theorist and strategist of non-violence in the world,” was expelled from Vanderbilt Divinity School in the late 1950s for his activism in the civil rights movement. He returned to the university in 2005 as a Distinguished Visiting Professor.
